NIGHTMARES OF HYDERABAD IN 2009

Sailesh: - So, our chapter of Hyderabad will come to an end, very soon, as we are now all shifting to other cities.

Prakash: - Yeah, that has to be, boss. We have got jobs in other cities and we have to move on. But, surely, I will remember our happy days in Hyderabad, especially the year of 2008. We just rocked like anything.

Diwesh: - We also enjoyed the year of 2009, here, by travelling in different places.

Arindam: - 2009 is one of the worst years, that this Hyderabad city people will want to forget.

Balbir: - Yeah, I agree with Arindam. This year of 2009 started with the Ramalinga Raju resigning from his own company. That fraud was so big that it affected all the stock exchanges of the world. What to say about Hyderabad? Satyam employees were contributing around 70% of the revenues for Hyderabad city. Due to job losses, Hyderabad became a deserted place and the local people of this city, who owned their own SME businesses, lost their profitable grounds in the market.

Diwesh: - Everything was recovering slowly and steadily, but then the Mother Nature started playing the trick. There was a huge shortfall of rain in Andhra Pradesh. As a net result, the farmers were in huge loss and the prices of vegetables, fruits, and all other food commodities increased. The price of pulses even went up to 110 rupees per kilo. On one hand, people of Hyderabad were losing their customers due to Satyam scam and on the other hand, their expense was increasing due to price rises in foods.

Prakash: - Arrey, after 1.5 months, there was a heavy rainfall due to monsoon. So, how can you say that the production of crops have been affected.

Sailesh: - Everything has its own time and season. If there is no rainfall, when the seeds are sown in the field, then there is no use of that rainfall. Monsoon came at the wrong time; at least, it was late by 2.5 months.

Arindam: - Hmm, how can you forget the flood, due to that rainfall? It was one of the dangerous floods; Andhra Pradesh people have ever experienced. Now, that flood indirectly affected the economy of Hyderabad. The price rise was already there; also, the diseases or epidemics started spreading like anything.

Balbir: - Still, the people of Hyderabad managed all these things well and moved forward. But, alas, the worst was yet to come. On a rainy day, a chopper went missing and later it was found in the Nallamala forest. At a bad time, people of Andhra Pradesh lost the CM, who was aggressively focusing to improve the rural sector. Due to YSR’s death, the rural economy suffered a major setback. As usual, after his death, the unity inside the Congress party got divided. One community supported the son of YSR and the other to K Roshaia. However, YSR’s son was too young to handle such a big state at that moment; so, K Roshaia was the best option.

Prakash: - Now, after these sad incidents, people were trying to revive the economy of Hyderabad. In this year also, Hyderabad people felt some good chilly winter in the month of November. But, in December, the entire Hyderabad became hot due to TRS leader KCR’s fast until death, for the demand of a separate Telangana state. What a drama it was? For 11 days, Hyderabad became a city of political turmoil. At last, when KCR stopped the hunger strike, the people of Coastal Andhra and Rayalseema started agitations for Anti – Telangana movement. As a net result, the corporate investors of Hyderabad have already started shifting their operations from Hyderabad to any other cities, because they fear that if Hyderabad comes under a separate Telangana state, then this city will lose its strategic power. Everyone invested in Hyderabad at the times of Chandrababu Naidu, because it is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, which is a very big state and possesses strong Industrial and Services sector powers than any other big states.

Diwesh: - Anyway, we will also leave Hyderabad. Let them fight among themselves and ruin their economy. I will never come back to Hyderabad, if it becomes a capital of Telangana state. However, yes, I will miss the Biriyani, Chicken Tandoori and Moghlai foods of this pearl city.

Arindam: - Ha ha ha, Why don’t you request these Hyderabadi Restaurants’ owners to open their branches in Kolkata also, especially in Park Street and Salt Lake. The development of Hyderabad city is at stake now, unless the entire Andhra Pradesh remains united, after these “NIGHTMARES OF HYDERABAD IN 2009”.
